Bike-Sharing, Internet Shopping - Just A Few Trends For 2013

By Special Contributor Larry Kane

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's just two days until the New Year. So, what are the trends to look for in 2013?

Ronnie Polanescky, Daily News Columnist, looks for dramatic change on the streets of Philadelphia. Mayor Nutter, she says, has called for an organized program of bike sharing based on a European model.

"So you can pick up a bicycle at one end of the city, take it to where you are going, you lock it up at another place and you're done, " says Polanescky.

And how will you shop in 2013? Nationally recognized retail and marketing expert Lori Wachs says look for clothing companies that design for active commuters and watch for the biggest challenge for establishment retailers - fighting the growth of the Internet.

"Before you would get to a retailer and they had what you were looking for and you would buy it. Now you go and you look on line and so there has been this tremendous trend of "show rooming" and what do retailers do around that?" adds Wachs.
