Book Gives Tips On Inside Track For Job Searching

By John Ostapkovich

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – If you're looking for a job, you know it's a brave new world out there and the latest edition of a long-running guide book offers tips for the inside track.

The Ultimate Job Search Guide 2013, by Martin Yate, aims to teach you how to get the attention of a potential employer.

"We talk about: one, putting a resume together; two, getting job interviews; and three, turning job interviews into job offers. It is not a career management book," says Yate.

There's another book in the Knock 'Em Dead series for that. Tailor your resume and approach for each job and don't presume that an interview is all about you.

"That interviewer's sitting there and saying a little prayer, 'Please let this be the one. Please let this be the man or woman who can do the job, who can get along with other people I have so I can hire him and get back to work!'" says Yate.

This book is available in both hard-copy and digital.
