Police: 76-Year-Old Attempted Kidnapping Suspect Had A 'Hit List'

By Oren Liebermann and Todd Quinones

RADNOR TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) -- A parking ticket at Cowan's Flower Shop led police to a car full of evidence in a detailed kidnapping plot in Radnor Township.

Police say they found a set of tasers to subdue victims, and surveillance equipment for picking targets, and much more.

"We have information to believe that Mr. Felder had what we'll call a hit list," said Superintendent Bill Colarulo of the Radnor Township Police Department.

Police say the man behind the plot is 76-year-old John Felder of Miami, Florida. They say he bought flowers last week and got the ticket while he was there. He wore a wig when he delivered the flowers to an upscale Villanova home. Police say he returned a few minutes later, claiming he forgot the card, before he tried to taser the homeowner.

Colarulo said only one prong hit the victim, who was able to slam the door shut and call 911.

Police tracked down Felder through the ticket, arresting him in the Poconos when he tried to buy a gun. Police say Felder admitted to his kidnapping plans. He even had a place rented in the Poconos to hold his victims until he collected ransom.

Police found cell phones and stolen license plates in Felder's car. Police say they found detailed lists and post-it notes of daily plans. Now that Felder is behind bars, they say those plans will never happen.

Felder has no criminal record. Police say he claimed he would never harm his victims. He is currently being held on $185,000 bail.
