PA Horticultural Society Offers Tree Care Training
By Phran Novelli
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Lots of trees fell during the hurricane, so first that means clean up, and then, replanting.
The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society is doing a lot of that as part of its ongoing 'Plant One Million' campaign that's already planted over 200,000 trees across our region since it began last year. To teach us all how to help out too, PHS holds workshops where you can learn more about tree planting and care and become a Tree Tender.
PHS Tree Tenders are volunteers who complete a course of hands-on tree care training, including tree identification, planting, pruning, root care, and how to look for stress and diseases. The next Tree Tender classes will be held on Saturday mornings in January, or for the first time, you can choose to take Tree Tender's classes at lunchtime workshops too. Either way, the complete course costs only $25.
