'Philly Photo Day' Getting Local Cameras Clicking

By Mike Dunn

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Break out your cell phone camera!   Today is "Philly Photo Day."

You're encouraged to snap a photo at some point today, then upload it to be included in an exhibit later this year.

This morning in Love Park, perhaps the most photogenic site in the city, the group "Philadelphia Photo Arts Center" was launching what it calls "Philly Photo Day."

"We invite everybody in the city to take a picture," says the group's executive director, Sara Stolfa.  "We're hoping to have over two thousand taken today and submitted to PPAC."

All of the photos uploaded to the site during the day will be collated into an exhibit, to be on display in December.

In addition, Stolfa says, they're purchasing ad space on SEPTA vehicles.

"We bought over 230 slots on SEPTA trains and buses, as well as 40 billboards, to be on display thoughout the city for the month of December.

You can submit your photo today to philaphotoarts.org.
