Some Displaced Residents From Mont Co. Condo Fire Gathering Belongings

By Mike Dougherty

WYNCOTE, Pa. (CBS) - Dozens of residents in the 1600 Church Road Condo complex in Wyncote, Pa. are still displaced after Friday night's fire (see related story). Some of them returned home briefly Sunday to pick up belongings and some came back to find out they have nothing left.

Many residents in Building B, which is where the fire originated, lost everything. A security fence now surrounds the building and no one is allowed inside, including Lynne, who was told by security she could not enter the place where she used to call home.

"From here, I just expect that I will not be able to have anything from my apartment anymore and move on," she said.

Her spirits are high though, despite losing almost everything she owns, including a few years worth of graduate school work.

"I'm in a good place in my life, so I don't really need to worry about what's in there anymore."

Next door, in Building A, which was not damaged, Lisa and her husband are picking up their valuables.

"I took jewelry. My husband is a golfer. He took all of his golf stuff, because that's expensive. Clothes, took some electronics. I mean what can you carry in a car?"

They'll be staying with her parents about 40 miles away in Yardley, Pa. until they can return home. She says her prayers are with those who have nothing to pack up.
