App Lets You Find Who Is Buried In Local Cemetery

By Kim Glovas

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A local cemetery wants visitors to know who is buried in it's hallowed ground, and yeah, there's an app for that.

Mount Moriah Cemetery, which straddles the line between Philadelphia and Yeadon, Delaware County, is using an Android application to identify who's buried there.

Paulette Rhone is board president of the Friends of the Mount Moriah Cemetery.

"Once it's in the data base, its searchable by name, you can have a Google pin drop, because the GPS coordinates are there, you can put in additional ancillary information about the person, the death certificate or an article, the obituary," Rhone explains.

Rhone says Mount Moriah has thousands of veterans buried there, at least four dating back to the Revolutionary War. She says the process of cataloguing the tombstones into a national database is in it's infancy but should yield some surprising results.
