New Jersey Boy Quits Football Team Over Pink Gloves

EGG HARBOR CITY, N.J. (AP) -- A New Jersey boy has quit his youth football team after he was told he could not play if he wore pink gloves.

Julian Connerton was wearing them to support his mother's fight against breast cancer.

Louis Barrios of the Egg Harbor City Crusaders Youth Athletic League Association tells The Press of Atlantic City the 12-year-old's coach didn't realize why the boy was wearing pink gloves at Saturday's game.

Barrios says it was strictly a uniform situation.

Barrios says the league plans to apologize to the family and the boy is welcome to return to the team.

His mother says she'd like the coach to be suspended for the season.
