Five Starving Dogs Rescued From Southwest Philadelphia Home

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Pennsylvania SPCA has rescued five starving dogs from a home in southwest Philadelphia.

On Wednesday, the SPCA searched a home on the 1900 block of South Redfield Street, where they found five emaciated dogs.

According to officials, some of the five dogs were near death, and one dog died shortly after being removed from the house. The remaining four dogs are in the care of the Pennsylvania SPCA and are currently receiving intensive treatment.

James I. Gilliard, 49, was arrested and charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty.
