2 Arrested For Attempting To Steal Scrap Metal From Highland High School

BLACKWOOD, N.J. (CBS) – Police arrested two men for allegedly attempting to steal metal from bleachers at a Camden County high school.

The incident happened at about 8 a.m. Wednesday at Highland High School on Erial Road in Blackwood, New Jersey.

Officers responded to the school after receiving reports that two men were trying to steal metal from under the football bleachers.

When officers arrived, the suspects were no longer at the location, but school personnel provided police with a detailed description of the suspects, including information that the suspects were trying to load the metal pieces into carry-on airplane luggage.

An investigation eventually led officers to the Highland Park development, where they spotted airplane luggage in front of a home on Springlane Drive.

Officers arrested the two men; 31-year-old Joseph Weber of Blackwood, N.J. and 23-year-old Joshua Clark of Lindenwold, N.J.

Weber and Clark were taken to the Gloucester Township Police Headquarters where they were each charged with Criminal Mischief, Theft and Defiant Trespassing. They were released on Criminal Summonses.
