By Ian Bush
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - On any given day, they're scattered across Philadelphia -- but last night, for one night only, the city's top food trucks and vendors set up shop at the Art Museum Circle for a the picnic on the Parkway.
Vernalicious was victorious in this year's Vendy Awards -- taking home the People's Choice trophy for Verna's "eclectic comfort" food.
"What can I getcha?" Verna asks a customer.
"Pulled pork grilled cheese and a chicken quesadilla."
And on her menu?
"We have our famed pulled pork grilled cheese or pulled chicken grilled cheese sandwich -- Texas toast, American cheese, cheddar cheese, lots of pulled pork, pulled chicken, spicy BBQ sauce," she said. "I make whatever I feel like making that week."
Carol and Jim sampled some fried fish, mac and cheese, and quesadillas:
"Excellent," Carol said. "Yeah -- then we're going to try those popsicles."
Over at Lil' Pop Shop, awarded the Vendy for Best Dessert. Owner Jeanne Chang works up some funky flavors for her frozen treats:
"We have sweet and salty summer corn, nectarine ginger, pineapple basil, chocolate with salted caramel brownie."
Max tried the avocado coconut popsicle:
"It's delicious. I've never tasted anything like this. Haagen-Dazs, Ben & Jerry's, they should adopt these flavors from the Lil' Pop Shop -- it's amazing."
The event was put on by the Fairmount Park Conservancy, the Philadelphia Parks and Recreation Department, and the Street Vendor Project.
