Bristol Teen Arrested For Slashing Tires

By Kim Glovas

BENSALEM, Pa (CBS) -- Bensalem Township police arrested a Bristol man on Wednesday for slashing tires on 22 different vehicles in less than a week.

Eighteen-year-old Jason Knapp was charged with felony criminal mischief and related crimes. The tire slashings started on Sunday and ran through Wednesday.

Bensalem Township Public Safety director Fred Harran says detectives did some old fashioned surveillance to track down the suspect.

"Our detective division started looking into this and they were able to come up with a pattern," Harran says. "Based on that information and the intelligence we received, we put some surveillance out there, and it wasn't more than an hour-and-a-half into the surveillance that we got this young man in custody."

Police say Knapp admitted to all of the tire slashings.

Police say Knapp delivers newspapers and was upset with people who illegally parked their vehicles in fire zones and no parking zones.

He was sent to the Bucks County Prison in lieu of 10-percent, $50,000 bail.
