CAMDEN, Nj. (CBS) – A Camden, New Jersey man was shot and killed early Sunday morning, authorities say.

According to police, 28-year-old Wilfredo Diaz was shot around 7 a.m. near the intersection of South 6th and Line Streets in Camden.

Responding officers reportedly found the victim in a vehicle not far from the scene of the shooting, near South 7th and Washington streets.

Police say it appears the injured Diaz got into his vehicle after being shot and attempted to flee from the scene, but crashed.

Authorities say Diaz was taken to Cooper Hospital for treatment, but was pronounced dead late Sunday afternoon.
