Amid Mild Weather, Area Hardware Stores Sit With Abundance of Snow Supplies
By Hadas Kuznits
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Home improvement and hardware stores around the Delaware Valley are eager for winter to get started.
It's been a mild winter in the Philadelphia area, and because of that, the store manager at a Lowe's in South Philadelphia says they have a lot of snow supplies in the store.
(Kuznits:) "So, you've got plenty of snow blowers ready to go..."
"Yes we do," said store manager Patrick Kirby (top photo. "And plenty of salt, plenty of shovels."
Meanwhile, Fred Fairfax at the nearby Home Depot says his store is experiencing the same situation.
"Shovels, like for your cars, jugs (of salt), regular shovels," he said. "I mean, we have plenty of supplies of snow shovels. So if we get hit with a big storm, we are ready!"
But less snow doesn't necessarily mean less business, according to Fairfax (right):
"With the mild winter that we have been having, we've been able to do more projects with the homeowners."
And Kirby, at Lowe's, explains that when they get a big rush on snow supplies they replenish their stock right away.
How many times they had to replenish this season? He wouldn't say...
"We're ready, let's say that."
