West Philadelphia Teen Charged With 2 Counts of Rape and Robbery

By Mark Abrams

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A West Philadelphia teenager is in police custody, charged in connection with the sexual assault and robbery of two women and an attempt on a third.

Police say his alleged victims have identified 18-year-old Dominic Brown of the 6000 block of Irving Street as the man who attacked them and held them at gunpoint.

Lt. Anthony McFadden of the Philadelphia Police Department's special victims unit says Brown pointed the gun at a potential third victim at 60th and Sansom Streets on Wednesday night, but the 35-year-old woman ran and called 911 on her cell phone.

Within a short time, McFadden says, one patrol unit spotted and attempted to stop a man matching Brown's description.

"The pursuit went several blocks through alleys, over walls, when they were finally able to apprehend him in the rear of the 6100 block of Walnut Street," McFadden said today.

Police allege that Brown was behind the robbery and rape of a 19-year-old woman in the 1000 block of South 61st Street on January 3rd, and the January 11th rape and robbery of an 18-year-old woman in the 300 block of South 60th Street.
