New List Ranks Philadelphia Third Worst City For Men In The U.S.

By Chelsea Karnash

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – If you're male and living in Philadelphia, take note: a new list has ranked Philadelphia the third worst city in the U.S. for men.

In the annual report from Men's Health magazine, Philadelphia ranks the third worst U.S. city for men out of 100—just ahead of Burlington, Ala. (99) and Memphis, Ten. (100).

The rankings, which were evaluated based on federal data in 35 categories like heart disease, employment, air quality and exercise, were released in the January 2012 issue of the magazine. Burlington, Vermont (1); Madison, Wisconsin (2); and Plano, Texas (3) were at the top of the "Best" list.

Perhaps the low ranking should come as no surprise, seeing as the City of Brotherly Love was also deemed the most toxic by Forbes in 2011, as wells as Travel + Leisure's city's with the least attractive people—for three years straight.

But the news isn't all bad: Philadelphia moved up one spot in the Men's Health report—from second- to third-worst—this year.
