There's No Shortage Of Activities For Your 'First Night'

By Michelle Durham

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - There are no shortage of places where you can ring in your New Year. Communities near and far have many activities planned.

Ocean City PR Director Mark Soifer says the city has been hosting "First Night" festivities for the past 20 years and its become a family tradition for many.

"People can choice from 70 entertainment programs and 13 central locations and this goes on from 4 p.m. until midnight on New Year's Eve and then we have fireworks. In addition to that, you can go on the rides with a First Night admission button to Wonderland Pier and play miniature golf."

Haddonfield puts on quite a family friendly "First Night" too.

"We have The Amazing Kreskin, Tommy Cash (brother of Johnny Cash), an acrobatic group named Galumpha and Searson, a Celtic rock band," says Maureen Eyles, executive director of First Night Haddonfield.

Eyles says there are countless things to see and do on New Years Eve in addition to the four headliners.

"We actually have 50 performances in 20 indoor and outdoor venues from six o' clock through midnight."

And countless activities for kids of all ages, "We have a teen dance party in the Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. And then we also have a whole kid zone, for children seven and under."
