SEPTA Plans To Change One Of Busiest Bus Routes

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - SEPTA is proposing some changes to one of it's most popular routes, the "C" bus, which carries 15,000 people each weekday. They will outline the plan in a public hearing scheduled for Tuesday at noon.

Andrew Busch, SEPTA spokesperson, says there has been some confusion among passengers.

"The 'C' Bus currently runs on Broad Street from Pattison Avenue in South Philadelphia to Cheltenham/Ogontz loop on the Montgomery county border. Then we also have a separate 'C' Spur that runs between Broad Street and Rising Sun Avenue to Nedro Avenue and 11th Street in Olney," Busch said.

In the new proposed plan SEPTA wants to split the "C" route into two separate routes.

"What we would do is create a new Route 4 to operate 11th Street and Nedro to AT&T Station in South Philadelphia. Then we would also have a Route 16 that would operate between City Hall and the Cheltenham/Ogontz Loop," Busch explained.

If approved SEPTA officials hope to put this into effect in mid-February.
