Is Black Friday The Best Day For Car Shopping?

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A lot of people are taking advantage of Black Friday sales, but if you're in the market for a car, is today the best time to buy that as well?

Robyn Eagles, a spokesperson for Kelley Blue Book says you might find some good car deals on Black Friday, but she expects good deals on cars to last for about a month.

"Between now and December 31st, it's probably going to be a good time as car manufacturers and car dealers are loading up on incentives to unload a lot of what's left of their 2011 model-year inventory."

She says what you don't want to do is buy a car on impulse.

"Certainly, do all of your research online before you go shopping. Buying a car is an emotional purchase and sometimes you get in the new car and you smell the new car smell and you drive it and you really want to drive it home."

Eagles says a good way to determine if you're getting a good price on a car is to use online tools like the fair purchase price page at KBB.com.

"You can go online and you can see what others in your neighborhood have paid this week for a new or used car and you can determine whether you're getting a fair deal or not."
