Liquor Control Enforcement Raids University City Bar; 40 Students Cited

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Forty college students are facing charges of underage drinking after Pennsylvania State Police Liquor Control agents raided a University City bar last night.

Working off of a tip, the agents raided the Blockley Pourhouse at 38th and Chestnut Streets at about 10 p.m. last night.

The Liquor Control Enforcement agents cited 40 students from Drexel, University of Pennsylvania and Saint Joseph's with alleged underage drinking. Four bartenders were also cited for allegedly serving the minors. The bar closed for the night after the bust.

The State Police Liquor Control Enforcement Division did not spell out the extent of fines and hearings will be scheduled for all those charged.

Establishments serving liquor to minors can lose their liquor license under certain guidelines.
