Police: Pennsylvania Man Hangs Self In Cell After Arrest
LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) -- Police say a central Pennsylvania man hanged himself in a police station holding cell after being arrested on a theft charge.
Lancaster police said Wednesday the 24-year-old man apparently used a shirt to hang himself Tuesday afternoon. He was in custody after being picked up on a misdemeanor theft charge.
Officials say officers cut the man down and attempted to revive him but he was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Police are investigating along with the coroner's office and the Lancaster County district attorney.
