Should Visors Be Mandatory?
By Lesley Van Arsdall
After a stick to the face that injured his right eye, Flyers captain Chris Pronger will be out at least two weeks. He's lucky. Seeing a known tough guy like Pronger bent over screaming in pain is horrible. Yet preventable, just wear a visor.
Visors are not mandatory in the NHL, but should they be? The AHL already makes visors mandatory. Some players claim they can't see as well with a visor , others say even with a visor there is no guarantee a stick can't get under it.
Per doctors orders when Pronger returns, he will wear a visor for the first time in his 18 year career.
