Villanova No Match For Old Dominion

VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) -- Taylor Heinicke threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another in a 30-point first half as Old Dominion routed Villanova 37-14 Saturday.

After the Monarchs (6-2, 3-2 Colonial Athletic Association) recovered a Wildcats fumble, on the next play Heinicke threw a 42-yard TD to Antonio Vaughan with 10:47 to go in the first quarter.

Lorenzo Smith scored his first career touchdown on a 53-yard run with 6:58 left in the first, then Villanova (1-7, 0-5) made it 13-7 with a 6-yard pass from Dustin Thomas to Joe Price.

After Old Dominion's Devin Simmons stripped the ball from Thomas, Heinicke added a 1-yard scoring run and a 15-yard TD pass to Nick Mayers in the second quarter. Heinicke finished 23 of 32 for 204 yards and also had a 34-yard punt.

The Monarchs, coming off a 39-35 loss to Towson, outgained the Wildcats 381-244 while holding Villanova to 101 yards rushing.
