Theatre Review: ''Mistakes Were Made'' Is High-Energy, One-Man Comedy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's no secret: the passion of Philadelphia's 1812 Productions is theatrical comedy.  The initial play of the new season is "Mistakes Were Made."

Playwright Craig Wright is no stranger to comedy, and his most recent effort has already proved a winner according to both Time and Newsweek magazines.

It's an uninterrupted, 90-minute, one-man performance in which popular area actor Scott Greer (photo) plays a heavyweight Broadway producer putting together an energetic comedy romp collected from writers and other madcap donaters channeled through a hardworking secretary, who makes only brief appearances in this play.

The play itself is a torrent of telephone babble, notwithstanding the brief appearance by the producer's office fish tank and its occupant -- fed and set aside for a mysterious future appearance.

Congratulations to Greer for his modicum of sanity from the torrent of uncontrolled nonsense.

"Mistakes Were Made" is at Plays & Players Theatre, 1714 Delancey Place in center city Philadelphia, through the end of the month.
