Greater Philadelphia Gardens

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - When guests come to visit, they help my garden in two ways. First, I run around catching up on pruning and weeding so my garden looks a bit better before they arrive. Then, they encourage me to visit more area gardens and get some fresh ideas while they're here.

Our cousins are coming this week, and asked us to recommend gardens to see. Just as we don't visit Independence Hall very often (on our own), out-of-town visitors help us appreciate what we have - so many great gardens we'd gladly travel a long way to see, except we don't have to.

Last year they went to the Morris Arboretum and its Garden Railway. This year they'll visit Chanticleer, in Wayne, perhaps wander the grounds of the Scott Arboretum, and maybe check out Mt. Cuba's native gardens in Delaware.

But there are so many more! To help them decide, I sent them a link to Greater Philadelphia Gardens, which keeps track of what's happening at nearly 30 gardens and arboretums in our area.

Here's the link for you, and your houseguests: GreaterPhiladelphiaGardens.org.
