PAFA Beer & Chocolate Tasting Helps Wannabe Art Collectors Get Started

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A new collector's night event held at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts offered advice for those interested in becoming a collector of fine art, and the event used a beer and chocolate tasting to help break the ice—as well as draw in the crowd.

How about a chunk of maple flavored dark chocolate to go with a glass of dark porter? That was one of the many combinations of sweets and libations offered up, as the Pennsylvania Academy looked to help patrons begin their journey into the world of fine art collecting. Robert Cozzolino, Senior Curator and Curator of Modern Art, says the best way to start is to find a piece that speaks to you. However, Cozzolino reminded guests that you shouldn't just jump in with credit card or check book in hand.

Patrons of the event were treated to a brief presentation about the basics of art collecting, in addition to a Q&A session.
