Philadelphia Police Investigate 2 Shootings In West Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Police in West Philadelphia are investigating two shootings Sunday evening.

The first shooting happened at about 7:30 p.m. at 52nd and Jefferson streets. A 23-year-old male was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania after sustaining a gunshot wound to the chest, police said. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

A second shooting at 52nd and Master streets happened at about 8 p.m. According to authorities, a 30-year-old male was discovered with a gunshot wound to his neck and was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he is listed in critical condition.

There is no word on whether both shootings are connected at this time.

Police haven't named any suspects and they are trying to determine possible motives in these cases.

Homicide detectives continue to investigate.
