Teen Hospitalized, Four Others Treated For Minor Injuries After 2nd Ride Accident At Morey's Pier In Wildwood

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A 13-year-old was sent to the hospital after a partial ride collapse at Morey's Piers in Wildwood.

This comes a little more than two months after a young girl died in a Ferris wheel accident at the park.

Just after 9 p.m. Friday night, Wildwood police responded to Mariner's Landing after hearing of an accident at the park.

There they learned a 13-year-old victim and four others were injured when the Sea Dragon Ride, a pirate ship that swings back and forth, had the center mast snap while the ride was moving.

Police say the 13-year-old was taken to the hospital for treatment; the condition of the victim has not been released. The four others were treated at the scene with minor injuries.

As for the Sea Dragon, a spokesperson from Morey's Pier says, "a section of steel scenery became detached from the sea dragon and struck at least one rider. Several guests were treated in first aid and released."

This comes a little over two months since 11-year-old Abiah Jones fell to her death from the Ferris wheel at the park.

Wildwood authorities are investigating the incident.
