Unemployed Women Get Chance To Style And Profile

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)- With millions of Americans out of work, a local makeover contest is being held to help 100 unemployed women look their best and to boost their confidence when they interview for jobs.

Marc Voci, who owns a successful beauty salon in Folsom (Delaware County), Pa.  and helps women look their best every day, wanted to do more.

"Last year, as a matter of fact, I heard President Obama speak about small businesses doing their part in Americans getting back to work, and it just clicked that I can do my part," he recalls.  "I've been doing these makeovers for 25 years."

He partnered with The Career Wardrobe and dozens of salons to hold a makeover contest he calls "Style Me Hired."  One hundred out-of-work women will be selected this year.  The deadline for submissions is August 31st.

"And they can put their submission online, tell their story, and upload their photo," Voci said.
