Bensalem Travel Agency Being Probed After Complaints Of Missing Deposits

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) - Bensalem police say they are looking for the owner of a local travel agency after receiving several complaints from people who say the payments they made to the agency never went toward the booking of their vacation.

Police say they received about a half-dozen complaints from people, some of them newlyweds who booked their honeymoon vacations through Aloha Travel on Bristol Pike.

Bensalem public safety director Fred Harran says it appears these were mostly vacations in the $5,000-10,000 range, and he says many of the possible victims found each other on a social networking site.

"They kind of went on Aloha Travel's Facebook site and they found each other there," Harran tells KYW Newsradio.  "I guess they started putting posts like, 'Hey, where's my money?, 'Where's my trip?,' that type of thing.  And then one saw another one and they started contacting each other."

At this point, police say, the investigation is still in the early stages, but they need to find the travel agency owner to determine whether any crime was committed.

They're also looking for any other people who believe they may have been cheated by the company.
