NJ Man Extradicted On Charges For Killing Father And Stepmother

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- A New Jersey man faces an extradition hearing in the state on charges for killing his father and stepmother in western Pennsylvania.

Officials in Morris County, N.J. said 40-year-old Colin Abbott, of Randolph, N.J. faces the hearing Wednesday.

He's been jailed in New Jersey since last week on criminal homicide charges filed by Pennsylvania State Police.

Police said Abbott killed his father, 65-year-old Kenneth Abbott, and stepmother, 55-year-old Celeste Abbott, sometime last month before burning the bodies outside their home near Slippery Rock, about 40 miles north of Pittsburgh.

Police say Abbott tried to cover up the killings by claiming the couple died in a fiery car crash in New Jersey, but that story fell apart when relatives couldn't confirm the deaths with New Jersey police.

New Jersey officials have no record of an attorney for Abbott.
