Suspect Arrested In Beating Death Of Mayor Nutter's Neighbor

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police have arrested a suspect in the beating death of an elderly neighbor of Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter last fall.

Edward Gause has been charged with the murder in the death of 76-year-old Robert Lancaster in his home in the city's Wynnefield neighborhood on November 5th, 2010.

Gause was arrested in the 6300 block of Market Street on Sunday by the U.S. Marshalls and officers from the 19th Police District without incident.

Nutter's office said last fall that the mayor knew the victim only "as a neighbor living down the street."

In addition to murder, the 43-year-old Gause has been charged with robbery, burglary and other related offenses.
