Suspect Arrested In Mount Holly Shooting

MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. (CBS) – One person is in police custody after a shooting in Burlington County late Thursday evening.

The shooting happened at about 10:40 p.m. in the 100 block of Hickory Street in Mount Holly.

Officers with the Mount Holly Township Police Department were dispatched to the area after the report of gunfire.

Upon arrival, they found 28-year-old Donell Whitley lying in the driveway of a residence with a single gunshot wound to the head.

Whitley was flown to Helene Fuld Trauma Center, where he underwent surgery. His exact condition was not immediately known.

Joshua Vandunk, 23, was arrested and is facing numerous charges that include Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

Vandunk is being held at the Burlington County Jail on $100,000 bail.

The investigation into the motive is ongoing.
