Horticultural Libraries
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - So it's National Library Week - what's that got to do with gardening? Well, we have some great horticultural libraries in our area, including the McLean Library at the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society where you'll find 15,000 books on gardening and plant care - which you can access online or borrow if you're a PHS member.
Then, there's one of the most special places in the city - the Ewell Sale Stewart Library at the Academy of Natural Sciences. Established in 1812, it houses all kinds of rare books and archives from the natural world including historic botanical prints, works from Lewis and Clark, and plant compendiums dating back to the 1500's. You can visit by appointment, become a friend of the Library and attend special events, or tour the treasures they've digitized for you to enjoy online - just click on the links.
