Weekend Box Office: 'Battle: Los Angeles' On Top

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Battle: Los Angeles won the Hollywood box office battle.

On its debut weekend, Battle: Los Angeles, the science fiction, action thriller with Aaron Eckhart, earned an estimated $36 million to unseat last weekend's leader and finish first in ticket sales.

That dropped the animated hit Rango into second place on its second weekend of release. It took in another $23 million.

Third place belonged to Red Riding Hood, the horror fantasy starring Amanda Seyfried. Its total was $14 million.

The Adjustment Bureau claimed the fourth spot with $11 million.

And fifth was the weekend's third new mainstream title, Mars Needs Moms, the animated sci-fi adventure. It earned under $7 million.

Overall, it was another respectable March weekend for the industry, with totals equivalent to those of last weekend.
