New Exhibit At Philadelphia Museum Of Art Features Works By Chagall

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Philadelphia Museum of Art is proud to present, Paris Through the Window: Marc Chagall and his Circle.

The exhibit showcases more than 70 paintings, sculptures and works on paper created by the iconic Chagall and artists around him all drawn to the culture and freedom of early 20th century Paris.

Curator of Modern Art Michael Taylor describes the work, "A Chagall painting is full of wonderment. There are sort of flowers and figures and amazing sort of details."

But Taylor warns it's not all fantasy. "Chagall did live to see the Holocaust, did live to see the rise of Hitler and Fascism. But he was not an artist to retreat from that, he confronted it head on, and you'll see that in the show."
