PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – There are dozens of diets out there. In fact, that number is wrong. There are hundreds upon hundreds of diets out there.

Not only are there diets but there are just as many books describing those diets. So what is the best diet? I mean with all of that information, there has to be a best diet–right?

Well the best diet is actually not going to be a best seller. The best diet is a diet that is based on taking in fewer calories than the number you burn with exercise. It makes total sense. Your body burns food as energy. If you are active you burn calories. If you have eaten too many calories you can’t burn them quickly enough and you put on weight.

Have you noticed that there is no book, no charge and no dramatic book cover? Of course it is not an easy answer. It takes hard work and consistent effort to lose weight.
