Cops: Intoxicated Driver Intentionally Slammed Into Police Cruiser

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia police arrested a drunk driving suspect after he allegedly rammed into a police cruiser intentionally early Thursday morning.

The incident began shortly after midnight when officers from the 26th District observed a male driver swerving down the street. When officers attempted to stop the driver, he reportedly continued driving.

The suspect eventually stopped at Girard and Susquehanna Avenues in the city's Fishtown section.

As officers approached the car, the suspect allegedly backed up his car and tried to run down three officers. Police say the suspect then fled the scene again.

Officers eventually caught up with the suspect and one officer used his cruiser to block the suspect in a parking lot.

Police say the suspect then drove right into the police cruiser that was attempting to block him.

Officers were then able to take the suspect into custody. He is facing numerous charges, including DUI and attempting to harm officers.

No officers were injured.
