Constitution Center Will Host Two Major Exhibits In 2011

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - For the first time, the National Constitution Center will be hosting two major feature exhibitions at the same time.

The Art of the American Soldier, which features powerful works of art created by American soldiers in the line of duty, will be extended through March 31st.  It was originally slated to close January 10th. It will overlap the March 4th launch of the Center's spring exhibition, Spies, Traitors and Saboteurs, marking the first time the Center will hold two feature exhibitions simultaneously.  

The new exhibition will be housed in a newly-created space on the Center's lower level.  President and CEO David Eisner says, "We're converting what used to be a lunchroom and a store and some other office area and turning it into about a 5,000 square foot feature gallery that will show off the exhibit really well."

"Spies, Traitors and Saboteurs covers really interesting acts of treason and espionage and examines the connection between, on the one hand, protecting American citizens from those kinds of acts and, on the other hand, continuing to afford all of our citizens their rights and their privacy as required by the Constitution."
