Temple Student Activists Score 2 Big 'Gets': Obama and Clinton

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Former president Bill Clinton is in the Philadelphia area today, campaigning for Democratic candidates (see related story).  He will wrap up his day at 8 PM tonight with a rally for Joe Sestak at Temple University's bell tower.

Temple is making last-minute preparations not only for this event but also for President Obama's visit on Saturday morning, when he will address those canvassing neighborhoods with a get-out-and-vote message.

The Temple College Democrats organization has been extremely busy, taking the lead in coordinating political rallies all week long.

Abby Shepherd is president of the student organization.  She says it's nice to know that all their hard work by young people is being noticed:

"We are the people who  stay up late and make calls in our dorm rooms, or we go to the Organizing For America office, or we canvas between classes.  And it's just nice that politicians come to campus to recognize the hard work that we have been doing."

Shepherd hopes her efforts will eventually get her into law school.
