KYW's Local Legends: Roberta Hacker
Roberta L. Hacker has been an advocate and leader in the movement against violence against women for 43 years, and since 1988 has served as executive director of Women in Transition.
Hacker says there's still a dangerous double-standard when it comes to women:
"We know that it is not appropriate to make jokes about people of color, in general or specifically. We know that it's not appropriate to make anti-Semitic statements. But women? It's wide open."
Hacker says her work now is getting men to mentor young boys, to help them, as she puts it...
"...to respect women and girls and not use violence to make your point."
