Members of Congresswoman Schwartz's Staff Threatened

A Northeast Philadelphia man is in federal custody, charged with threatening to kill members of a local congress person's staff.

KYW's Pat Loeb reports federal prosecutors say 44-year-old Jesse Keel called Representative Allyson Schwartz's office, Wednesday, and said he had a problem and needed help.

Assistant U S Attorney Robert Reed says Keel wasn't happy with the response and made the following threat:

"He was a former marine, he had a rifle and could take a bus and was going to go to a building across the street from her office and was going to shoot the person to whom he was speaking, who was a member of her staff, and other people in Congresswoman Schwartz's office."

Keel was arrested at his apartment later that night. The hospital had discharged him after determining that he didn't need to be involuntarily committed.

Reed says Keel will undergo another psychiatric examination -- to see if he can stand trial.
