Atlantic County Beaches Reopen After Being Closed Due To High Bacteria Levels

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) -- All beaches in Atlantic County are back open Thursday evening after they were previously closed due to elevated bacteria levels in the Atlantic Ocean.

Officials blame heavy rain for causing bacteria and pollution to reach the ocean.

Too much bacteria in the water can cause stomach sickness and rashes.

Authorities say they will monitor the levels on a daily basis.
