Chestnut Hill Transforms Into Hogsmeade For Harry Potter Festival

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - This weekend is going to be a magical one in Chestnut Hill. That's because their annual festival created for Harry Potter lovers is back in town.

"It is an experience that is one to remember," says Martha Sharkey with the Chestnut Hill Business District.

If you love all things Harry Potter, she says this festival is must-attend:

"We like to look at it as the ultimate fan festival of people coming together who really just appreciate Harry Potter and his friends."

From Hedwig's Hollow Selfie Park to Magical Ice Sculpting, 4 Privet Drive photo ops to Horcrox stations, Sharkey says the festival has something for everyone, including snacks and beverage:

"Our shops and restaurants decorate their shop windows, they change their store names, their team members get excited and get dressed up. They have themed Potter food and drink, lots of Butterbeer of course. It's our own little Hogsmeade."

You can also try Witches Brew, Treacle Tarts and Polyjuice Potions, to name a few.

In addition, Sharkey says expect to see lots of Harrys, Dumbledors and all your favorite characters:

"It's worth the visit to see everyone in costume and everyone walking the avenue and just enjoying the day and the commodore with one another."

The full weekend of fun gets underway Friday night with the Potter Pub Crawl. Among the other attractions during the day Saturday and Sunday is the Quidditch tournament, where you can watch area colleges play.
