Philly Soccer Show: Philadelphia Union Tied For Top In Eastern Conference

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Who'd have thought? Three games into the MLS season and the Philadelphia Union are tied for top in the Eastern Conference with 6 points in the standings, and the KYW Philly Soccer Show breaks it all down for you.

KYW's Greg Orlandini and Philly Soccer Page writer talk with Union Striker CJ Sapong. His two goals in the team's home opener at Talen Energy Stadium powered them passed the New England Revolution 3-0.

Sapong talks about the physical battle he had in the game, tying up New England's defenders throughout the match. He also talks about the team's improvement in the areas of training and sports science, and how he feels strong and more prepared compared to last season.

Kevin and Greg also look at the Union's depth, especially in the midfield. They've gotten off to this strong start with both Maurice Edu and Tranquillo Barnetta out with injuries, and Vincent Nogueira only playing in the team's season opening defeat at Dallas. Chris Pontius and Ilsinho have both stepped up to contribute in the Union's early games. The team has a bye this week and then will hit the road against Chicago Fire on April 2nd.
