PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – New research suggests snoring could affect your memory.

Researchers at The Center for Brain Health at NYU School of Medicine in New York reportedly studied nearly 2,500 people between 55 and 90.

Those with breathing problems like snoring and sleep apnea were diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment about 10 years earlier than people who did not have sleep-related breathing problems.

Experts think snoring might actually speed up a mental decline that’s already happening.

Symptoms of sleep apnea include loud and frequent snoring, choking or gasping during sleep and feeling tired during the day.

Sleep problems affect nearly 53% of men and 26% of women.
