Camden Police Make Christmas Even Brighter For One Family

By Cleve Bryan

CAMDEN, NJ – Camden County Police proved Christmas Eve that any job worth doing is worth doing right when they paid a second holiday visit to a family on Pfeiffer Street.

They first stopped by several days ago to drop off toys as part of their annual toy drive. but when they got to the house they noticed a need too big to ignore.

"When the officers brought the toys to the family we noticed that they didn't have anything. They barely had any food, barely had any blankets and when they came out they said 'Sgt we got to help this family out'," says Sgt Bill Wiley, president of the Camden County Police FOP Lodge 218.

Wiley started making calls and found people happy to help.

Bryson's Pub in Pennsauken had already collected hundreds of toys for the scheduled toy drive, but Christmas Eve owner Paul Bryson and several of his customers opened their hearts and wallets again to buy the family food.

"Hopefully it will make their Christmas a lot better," says Bryson, " I go home to a full refrigerator of food so hopefully they'll have a refrigerator full of food now"

In all, the do-gooders helped to rally furniture, food, toys and even a Christmas tree which officers helped the family decorate.
