PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A popular pop-up park in Philadelphia has announced it will remain open a month longer than planned.

The Delaware River Waterfront Corporation announced Wednesday that its summer-only floating park on the Delaware, Spruce Street Harbor Park, will continue to operate through September 28th.

The park, which has received a lot of buzz despite its short tenure. Earlier this summer, it even made a Jetsetter list of the world’s best urban beaches.

The DRWC says roughly 35,000 people came to Spruce Street Harbor each week this summer, and nearly double that number went to the park during the July 4th holiday.

The park was originally scheduled to close after Labor Day weekend.
