Driver Of Car That Killed Mother, Daughter In Merchantville Was Traveling Up To 100 MPH


MERCHANTVILLE, NJ (CBS) – Camden County officials have released more information on a Thursday crash that killed a mother and her daughter in Merchantville (see previous story).

According to the Prosecutor's Office, 36-year-old Anada Medina and her 18-year-old daughter Stephanie Garcia, were killed when a Dodge Durango collided with their Honda Odyssey around 3:40 p.m. near Chapel Avenue and Russell Avenue.

Witnesses say the Dodge Durango, driven by a 31-year-old man, was traveling at speeds of up to 100 mph in an area with a 25 mph speed limit. The Dodge crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic, colliding with the Honda at the traffic circle.

Both the driver of the Dodge and a female passenger remain in critical condition at Cooper University Hospital in Camden.

Police say they are reviewing the evidence to determine appropriate charges.
