Wednesday's Child: Sasha

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Sasha loves helping others. When we talked, she was excited to start volunteering in the community.

(Sasha:)  "I was going to start helping the elderly play Bingo at a nursing home.
(Larry Kane:)  "Try to help them win?"
(Sasha:)  "Yeah (laughing). They win quarters."

At just 14 years old, she's experienced a lot and wants to use her experiences to help others.

(Sasha:)  "I want to be a correctional officer."
(Larry Kane:)  "You do? Why?"
(Sasha:)  "To help kids like me, because I'll know what they went through."

Her social worker, Karen Knodel, calls Sasha very motivated.

"I think my favorite thing about her is that, in talking to her, she has some very definite goals that she wants to accomplish," Knodel says.  "And she not only has those goals but she's been working really hard toward them."
